A brief chronicle of my new life in Michigan, focusing on the fact that I live in a converted factory loft building with several hundered other "young professionals." Yeah, it's a yuppie dorm.

The Curse of the Humanities

I got to my office today and discovered that there's no air conditioning or circulation in the building. For three weeks. The e-mail that the admin. asst. sent around basically said that they're replacing the circulation machines, and they had had this project scheduled since last fall. However, they didn't get around to/forgot to tell anybody who works in the building that there would be no AC for the last week of July, and first two weeks of August.

While today's weather is blessedly non-heat-wave, I've got an interior office with no windows. It's actually not bad right now, due to the OK weather and open doors, but if it gets above 80, I doubt that I'll be able to work here that much. On the plus side, maybe they'll improve the AC so that it doesn't feel musty/damp in here when it's running.

You know, being in the oldest building on campus is annoying when that building was built in the 60s.
