A brief chronicle of my new life in Michigan, focusing on the fact that I live in a converted factory loft building with several hundered other "young professionals." Yeah, it's a yuppie dorm.

Ahem; (tap, tap)

I'm afraid I'm probably speaking to an empty room, as I've been lax in my posting. Or rather, downright missing from the blogosphere. This semester, despite the only-teaching-Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday schedule, is being a bit demanding. I think it's mostly because I'm teaching 1.5 new classes (Shakespeare, while not a new class per se, is always a new theme, and a few new plays) and went to a long conference in the first week of February.

If you were wondering, Albuquerque in February is pretty boring. Sunny, not too warm, and one of the deadest downtowns for a city I've ever seen. If you want to go to New Mexico, spend your time and energy on Santa Fe.

Otherwise, I'm fighting the Februrary-induced depression, trying to lose a few pounds, and not letting those two things interact more than they need to. I've always had a major food issue with depression; namely, that when I'm really depressed, I don't eat. My metabolism then slows to a trickle, and thus when I start eating again, my body grabs every calorie and hold on to it. So, I'm trying this time to handle depression by not not eating, and not not eating healthy food to boot. Sometimes, I just get confused and eat oatmeal for dinner.
