A brief chronicle of my new life in Michigan, focusing on the fact that I live in a converted factory loft building with several hundered other "young professionals." Yeah, it's a yuppie dorm.

Hi, all.

One of the reasons I haven't been posting that much is because I know there is someone out there who has been/possibly still is reading this blog to get insight into how best to hurt me. I can't talk about it further, because of the aforementioned issue - but to put it into terms that make complete sense to me: I've got an Iago in my life right now.

I very much want to talk/write about a lot, but this issue is making me reluctant to do so. Any advice? I'm thinking about creating a new blog that this person doesn't know about, but that seems a bit stupid and paranoid.

In other (hopefully non-use-against-me) news: the Yuppie Dorm will soon become the Yuppie Condos. I'm still waiting to hear what the price of my unit will be, and if I can afford and want to buy it. I'm in the process of finding a good real-estate lawyer (have an excellent lead, but his home base is in Grand Haven, not GR) and trying to sort out the real estate market in my new city. Having just read about Dooce/Blurbomat's plumbing issues, I'm thinking I'm not quite ready for a house. The ones in my price range are about 80 years old (which I like from a design standpoint) but not from an upkeep standpoint. And because of ideological and relationship issues (see Matt's project), I can't go the mushroom house in the suburbs route, either. I'll keep you updated.
